Jesus in stretchy pants / Jezus in een strakke broek

In Januarie heb ik voor het Paas-festival deze Superman-Jezus figuren gemaakt. Voor dit paas-festival zijn er afgelopen weekend 80 tieners en 40 "leiders" naar Grimerud gekomen. Het thema voor dit jaar is "Jezus leeft". Het is eigenlijk Dina geweest die gevraagd was om het design voor het festival en voor de brochures te doen.

Ze kwam een paar keer bij mijn kantoor langs om te zien wat ik van haar ideeën vond, en toen zijn we uiteindelijk voor dit "Jezus in strakke pak"-idee gegaan. Ik ben niet zo´n geweldige superhelden-fan. Dat is me te Amerikaans. Maar om een keer een superheld te tekenen is altijd leuk. De tekening was met een paar uren klaar, en de volgende dag hadden we een brochure om naar de "festival-leiders" te sturen.

Elk jaar ben ik wel op één of andere manier betrokken bij dit Paas-festival. Dat gaat ook moeilijk wanneer er er hier tachtig tieners rondrennen. Soms heb ik op het podium gestaan om de bewegingen op de liedjes te doen, een andere keer ben ik rond slapens-tijd bij alle kindertjes langs gegaan om ze te vertellen dat ze "nou echt stil moesten zijn."
Dit jaar stond ik een dagje in de keuken om voor iedereen spaghetti te maken. Heel veel spaghetti, en nog was er niet genoeg.

Back in January we made this brochure for the pre-teen camp that was running at Grimerud last weekend. Dina got asked to design the brochure and came dropping by my office a few times to talk about the design.

In the end we decided that I was going to draw a Superman/Jesus for the brochure. And this is what it looks like. It was a lot of fun to draw a superhero, and make it look like Jesus. I think it´s super tacky (not a spandex-fan), but … hey … this one was not about my taste and opinions.The whole thing took only a few hours, and Dina was able to finish the brochure the next day. O´course we had to show the brochure to a couple of kids to see their reactions… Well, they were pumped.


Every year, I am somehow involved with this Easter-camp. One time I have been on stage to do the movements to the songs, another time I was going around the rooms after bed-time to tell them they "really had to go and sleep."
This time I was in the kitchen for one day, making spaghetti for the whole lot. Lot and lots of spaghetti, and still there was not enough.

I had some time to kill on that friday-afternoon, so I decided to try myself on a watercolor version.

For the festival, they wanted a two by two meter version of the super-Jesus. I managed to print it over 64 sheets of A3 paper. Then me and Martina took ourselves a couple of hours in the gym-hall to put it together.

At a quiet moment I snuck into the meeting hall (which is an old barn) to take a picture of the big Super-Jesus.
