Mixable week 10: … someone to help

Café UNO is a place for all kinds of young people to hang out, it´s our (the churches of Hamar) place for them.

We don´t run the place to sell slices of toast and cups of coffee.We are here for the youth. That´s why we keep out prices low, and don´t open until after the schools are out.

All winter, I have been trying

to get done with the big "family-tree" that´s on one of the walls of the café. When finished, the all the youth can write their names at the tree. This is one of our many ways of saying that every one of them count for us. It has taken me too long to finish the tree, but this week we got to coloring the leaves with bamboo-ish yellow. Soon it will be done, and they can start tagging.

A very good thing with a YWAM-community like Grimerud, is that it is not difficult to find someone to help you on a short notice. Someone who is patient to listen, someone to drive you to the airport in the middle of the night, a pat on the back or three strong pair of hands

to handle the heavy lifting. It´s mostly the timing of the help that makes the difference. This week I have been helping someone to practice driving and another to learn Norwegian. I myself are borrowing someone else's bicycle until I get a new hind-wheel for my own. I am good at being myself someone said, but I am not good at asking for help.

By the time I am posting this, most of the painting on the tree has been done. Since it was very very quiet in the café yesterday, two of us were able to do a lot. No photo´s of the wall yet, I hope I can make an entry about it in a couple of weeks.

I had to rush-rush the illustrations for this week, That´s why they look a bit "flatter" then the previous weeks. I have been considering to go back to just doing one entry per week, this project is still costing me more time than I had thought it would.
For the coming weeks I will be working with the next issue of our magazine Mot Målet, doing illustration and graphic design.
