The wedding

We had an amazing wedding day on the sixteenth of April, we are so happy that so many of our family and friends could be there to celebrate our big day together with us. We had set up a live-stream for everyone that could not be there, and almost ninety people followed our wedding ceremony. Thanks for joining in from all over the world.

In the week before the wedding, we were of course very busy and stressed, trying to arrange everything as well as possible. But we got a lot of help from a lot of the people here and from my family. My parents and younger brother took the time to be with us for one week before the wedding.

God´s plan

At the day of our engagement on the twenty-first of January, we prayed to ask from God when we should have our wedding. To my surprise, the numbers «16.4.» appeared in my mind. When we checked the calendar, it showed that that would be on a Saturday. We were a little freaked out about how soon that would be, but after thinking about it for one week, we decided to follow God´s plan for our wedding and make the day official.

What followed were three very intense months. A time when we started learning to trust God´s plan for our marriage. There were a lot of things that needed to be arranged, and we had to take more than a few trips into town together to get all of that done.
The two most stressful things of the winter guerrilla-planning of our wedding was that we were not sure what the weather would be on the day, and that we did not have a pastor to lead the ceremony until only three weeks before the wedding.

The uncertainty about the weather kept us in tension much longer. There was snow on the ground two days before the wedding. It was April, and our plan the whole time had been to have our wedding outside on the lawn of where we live. The final moment of assurance of good weather, came later that day when the sun came out just when we had our general rehearsal. The day had otherwise been gray and rainy.
As you can see on the pictures, God made the sun shine very brightly for our ceremony. This came as such an encouragement and confirmation that He who planned this day could be trusted to provide for our marriage with all that He can give.

Thanks to everyone,
who came for our wedding ceremony,
or sent a card.

Honeymoon

Me and Marina had a very short honeymoon-trip to Denmark, since we did not want to stay away from Ana for more than three nights. The sun that came out for the time of our wedding ceremony did not follow us on the cruise to Denmark, and our twelve-hour stay in Fredrikshavn was mostly windy and wet.

Honeymoon in Fredrikshavn,
where we attempted to reach Skagen by bike.

The next chapter of our lives

It´s super good to be married, and to be family together with my two Brazilian girls. It has taken some weeks to adjust to our new life-situations, and to reprioritise our lives. My work for YWAM is still suffering from this big change, because some of my work time is still spent on the different kinds of paperwork we still have to do after the wedding.

And, we are planning to visit both the Netherlands and Brazil this summer. Our tickets are booked, and we will be in the Netherlands on the 21st of June for our Dutch wedding ceremony on the 26th of June in my home-church. Then on the first of July we will fly to Belo Horizonte, and stay there for the rest of the month. On the 16th of July we will have our Brazilian wedding ceremony in a park.

Then, after the summer we will continue with the things we have been doing here at Grimerud. I will continue to work with design and illustration for YWAM Norway nationally (and with spending some time every week at Café UNO and the preschool), Marina will continue working as the kitchen-manager, and at «The Mercy House» one day in the week. After the summer, Ana will start her last year in the pre-school that is right here at the base.
