30 June: Leaving Grimerud, we drove through Gjøvika and Fagernes to get to our first summer destination in Vats, near Ål. On our way we had a look at stone-age carvings along the Etna river. In the evening we walked to the top of Vardehovda at 1190 masl.
1 July: After lunch we walked "through the village" of Vats. lots of old farm-houses.
In the evening we watched the final of the European Soccer Championship.

It seemed to us that all the places in the area there had one-syllable names only, like: Vats, Hol, Gol or Ål. Easy.
