Story-catching / Verhalen-vangen

Zelfs wanneer ik niet op mijn werk zit is mijn voorstellingsvermogen niet op vakantie. Het is erg inspirerend om deze zomer Hallingdal en Haukeli bezocht te hebben. Alle oude gebouwen en de wilde natuur daar waren een perfecte omgeven om aan een verhaal te werken.

Met een verhaal in mijn hoofd, merk ik dat ik andere foto´s neem dan anders. Ik heb een aantal personen en scenes in mijn hoofd waar ik tijdens mijn vakantie een gescikte plek voor gezocht en gevonden heb. Soms door toeval, maar altijd door goed te kijken. Hierzijn een paar voorbeelden:


Even while I was not at work, my imagination was not on vacation. Visiting the area´s of Hallingdal and Haukeli this summer has been very inspiring. The many old buildings and wild nature are perfect to help me work out a story in my head.

Having a story that I wanted to tell, made me take other kind of photo´s than a "regular" tourist would. I have a set of characters and scenes in my mind that I am looking a "stage" for. Sometimes by accident, but always by looking well. Here are some examples:

Nice very old farm-house, check out the face in the wood on the corner of the house.

Look here, a nice tucked away farm-house.
A small family can live here, with a cow and some geese.

The neat little bench is nearly overgrown,
A typical spot for an old lady to sit in the sun.

Up in the mountains, we found wide and small fields of cotton-grass.
I had to think of the Norwegian folk-tale of the twelve wild ducks.

If I was the chief of a band of robbers, this is where I would have our secret hide-out.
